ONGOING PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

As I have worked with websites before, I proposed the idea of creating one for our presentation instead of providing a handout to the class. As a group, we collaborated on how we could incorporate all aspects of the information we acquired and how it would be the most beneficial to student success, or in this case, our classmates. This presentation gave me the opportunity to work with members of my class that I had not worked with before.

Personal Inquiry

Personal Inquiry

As there are more and more students entering schools with English as their second language, I wished to explore the topic of students learning a second language and it’s affects on their aptitude scores. As I am inclined to work with the Deaf and to teach English overseas, I found this topic on aptitude and students learning a second language rather interesting. In my research, I found that age and language aptitude plays a large role in the success of students learning a second language.

Patterning Critical Inquiry

Patterning Critical Inquiry

Not only do we, as teachers, teach our students, it is through our students that they teach us. Learning is an ever-going process. This inquiry was a chance to gather information on the grade one students on their ability to work in pairs and to see what kind of manipulatives they would use to demonstrate their understanding. This critical inquiry workshop that I attended helped me realize exactly how I can help my students.
