![]() Elements of Design ChallengeStudents in grade six, seven, and eight at King Edward Public School took up the challenge to create an image that incorporated the seven elements and one principal of design in one single image. | ![]() Screen PrintingThe grade five students at Oakridge Public School took up Screen Printing at the Living Arts Centre and learned some new skills, patience, and a new creative outlet. | ![]() iPads in the ClassroomThese grade five students learned how to research on iPads, work as a team, and learned different parts of the Canadian Federal Government. All the research gathered will help them in their report writing unit where they will write a report based on their expert topic. |
![]() Choose Action Against BulliesThese grade five and six students attended the Choose Action rally against bullying and watched a presentation by the Harlem Globetrotters. The grade five students then learned about bullying in the classroom and created some skits on how to stand up to a bully and how to include everyone in the school community. | ![]() Geometric GardensGrade five students were landscapers where they created gardens using shapes that could be deconstructed by triangles. Each garden featured a path and a fountain and a creative title for their garden. | ![]() Communism verses No GovernmentA friendly debate on whether these grade five students would rather live in a communist country or a country with no government. Students were able to switch sides at any time and were able to voice their opinions to each other and to the class. |
![]() From Jot Notes to SentencesIn groups, students rearranged the sentences from the co-constructed jot notes given into a legible paragraph. Students then edited the paragraph as a class to help them with their report writing and editing skills. | ![]() Tangram squaresIn pairs and then in teams of four, students tried to create a square using all seven Tangram pieces. From this Teacher inquiry, students were asked to build houses using the Tangram shapes and indicate which pieces could be deconstructed into quadrilaterals and triangles. | ![]() A Visit To Ontario ParliamentFor their Canadian Government unit, the grade fives had the opportunity to visit Queen's Park and learn about everyone who works there as well as the history of the Canadian Government. |
![]() Learn to Skate ProgramGrade four and five students had the opportunity to learn how to skate over four afternoon sessions. They came a long way from falling on the ice to more confident and determined young individuals on and off the ice. | ![]() Remembrance Day AssemblyGrade four and five students took charge and lead the Remembrance Day assembly at their school.
